"There is no 'I' in team!" - That's right! I said it!

When I was invited to work at my last agency, I was so excited to work with a new client, a dedicated product, engaged creatives, and so many opportunities to explore and expand my skills. I enjoyed a fully-remote position on the West Coast while the agency was located in New York. One of two West Coast remote workers in a predominantly East Coast agency, I looked forward to bringing my experience to the team and making an impact on the launch of a new injectable formulation of VYVGART. This wasn't just another deliverable — it was a high-visibility expansion of a breakthrough therapy for generalized myasthenia gravis, and the timing was critical. Sounds important! And it is!

Roles and Responsibilities

They were looking at an extensive launch, and I was initially brought on to create digital sales aids, PDFs, and interactive professional tools that would support field teams and HCP education. These materials needed to be medically accurate, visually compelling, and seamlessly integrated across platforms — from booth graphics and packaging to iPad experiences and clinical data sheets. Every piece had to pass rigorous MLR (Medical, Legal, Regulatory) review, which meant precision, patience, and persistence were non-negotiable.

Where are you going? I just got here...

Two months before the launch, the Creative Director decided to put in their notice. No shade here. I totally understood the desire to move on and into new roles and positions. In this vacuum, I moved into this role while at the same time, keeping the focus on the work that needed to be guided and completed. It all sounds very mechanical, but I assure you, there were many curse words uttered under my breath at my desk on a few late Friday night submissions. I did my best to work through and adapt, and so did the team. I have never been a part of a more focused team of individuals working so diligently towards a common goal day-to-day. Truly a rewarding and memorable experience.

Wait! I just got here!

At the end of a six-month push. Rounds of revisions piled up. Many rounds of legal reviews completed. The T's crossed and I's dotted. The injectable launch was delivered on time, with no hiccups or complications.

This was a launch that sharpened not only my design and production skills, but also my ability to step into leadership under pressure. Something that I have always admired about myself and my style of working. But! (There is always a 'but', isn't there?) They decided to let me go. They said, "We are restructuring the organization." And what that meant was that my role was no longer included in that structure. It happens.

Where do I go from here?

In the last year, I have had the opportunity to grow in my freelance career and establish roots and inroads with my own clients. Serving them with the same commitment and ability to push work forward. But! (There's that word again!) I sometimes miss being a part of those larger efforts, rolling up my sleeves and solving the larger problems, congratulating each other for a job well done, and celebrating with a night out at the end of it all.

Maybe... Maybe I just stay here?
